SkullTrail, I wouldn't encourage such "Illegal" activity to other people on this forum. I do however understand why people rip software but I myself wouldn't encourage it because I could get into trouble if you understand what I mean. And don't make a big deal of it because I don't want to argue my point.

and why would you want to "steal" winamp, many other "free" products out there that work just as good if not better. eg. VLC, SSPlayer

the moment AOl got a hold of it, its days were numbered... remember netscape radio?
AOL is in with time warner and all those sony/dmca lunatics. Their aim is to remove any sort of online content, and only marginally tolerate DRM content; which they consider a necessary evil. If you look into the DRM/anti-piracy trends lately, you will notice as of this year all p2p and fair use fronts have been steadily loosing ground to the IP lawyers. Some businesses are even getting legal letters demanding patent based remuneration for technology used in their photocopiers. (ie you use a photocopier/printer/scanner in your business; these contain items covered by IP patent *blah; we demand you pay $5000 license fees to us, the holder of patent *blah or else we will take legal action)
It appears they have a number of bent judges now; ruling in their favour, backed up by corrupt US politicians (of whom I include the Current Australian parties) spearheading things like the TPP and "free trade" agreements, which if looked at in detail, are really "free for US companies to force anti competitive trade on the rest of the world; and to severely limit fair use and distribution networks" agreements.
