All good Boss RE: Map rendering have you tried Tectonicus? It seems to handle any size map - I tested it out on a 1GB map I generated on my dev server and it chugged along and produced output. - took a stack of HDD space but it worked. [i7 2600, 14GB RAM - linux] www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/TectonicusOn a side note, that hardware I sent to you should be getting delivered today. (they tried at 9.51am but you were closed)

's all good pops. Grim this server map is much much much more than 1GB In my new house back here in England, I'm going to need some time to get cables upstairs, as the wifi doesn't reach my room, have to use internet in lounge. Also having huge money problems, I'm -100GBP from what I need to live.. sigh... need to earn money... Time to pull out my good ol' 'Shoplifting for Dummies' book

Oh I know this map is in the range of ~10GB - its all a matter of having the CPU Power & cycles to render into a true map.
What I found with Tectonicus is that if you set the view levels low it'll do an overview map nicely. No matter the size - it all just takes time CPU and crap loads of HDD.

Tectonius is why i was pulling hair out. Its never failed me before, just took fjurkin ages normally.
I seem to be able to render all worlds more or less, except the main.
All that works on main is if i select the show player locations option, which shows some odd clusters of unknown players in distant locales (greif squads? builder guilds? NFI) but nothing else.
Even pigmap with 12 zoomlevels struggles now.
I deleted some chunks from someone using tppos to some far location which got rid of a few errors, but we have stuff built from 70,000 out and in, possibly further.
I might have to copy world and trim out all the furthest chunk files to get something meaningful

that's what everyone says about their own builds, and that is why phoenix does not delete them.

It isn't about deleting builds. If i really don't like a build I just don't roll back as much if someone builds something nicer on top of it. Or I just move it literally. A lot of ugly buildings look nicer when they are located in a urban setting with other odd looking buildings. If i really wanted to i could rollback the server 8 months using logblock, or just pull up an incremental backup (which i dont trust) It is the chunks the builds reside in, which are spread out anywhere from 100,000 out, to right under the spawn - and all the active chunks in between that are the issue. Previously the most remote location was the island the dark fortress sits on. Now oddly the darkfortress sits more like around the middle somewhere with even more remote locations from that. Also appears we were hit by the occaisional "chunk" bot which just runs off in one direction generating chunks, i need the map to work out where this has happened and start pruning The main reason for wanting to map, is to plot all the "signs" and "players locations" as these are a better indication of where things are. (A lot of stuff is hidden underground and not visable from a map) I also wanted an overview map to start building our fast travel (and perhaps stargate) network more - and give our server more of a mmorpg feel. Biggest trouble is, so many active chunks, and i suspect a few map and/or entity errors blow out the mapping tools. I seem to have a catch 22 tho - i need the map to work out which are just rubbish chunks from chunk bots, but i cant make a map until i get rid of the rubbish chunks
