I was thinking that we could get a large group of people and make a massive nether city. All needed materials will be supplied but I will require a decent amount of though into what you are going to do until I release the materials. If I am on then I can do some minor world edit to places too difficult to do on your own. I am not sure how this will be organized or anything like that, it is just currently an idea I am throwing out there. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! So.....should we do this?

Why is a vote necessary? You can do one with whoever you like lol.

It can. But I want to know if there are enough people wanting to join in to make the project worth starting.

Last 2 updates appeared to reduce a lot of nether lag. But ive not testing it significantly other than wandering down the abandoned railway line to the dark fortress portal.
There was 2 or 3 hidden nether communities scattered about AFAIK, plus all the strongholds, and the necromancer spawn that was never completed.
Theres the old one up the stairwell from the citadel portal, and across the bridge where some shops etc have changed hands a few times. Not been there a while i suspect its been griefed to the dark ages by now. So i'll probably have to go on a rollback spree at some point, and lock it off too.
There was an attempt at an entire shopping centre and church in another place last year.
A small fortress near the citadel gate. Various trashed ships and battle arenas, various ruins, deliberate or griefed, pig assassin also started converting one of the nether fortresses behind his chaos portal at port blacksand.
A few other nether fortresses have varying amounts of development, a while ago a lot of players randomly went looking for fortresses and blaze spawners.
Also all along the abandoned epic railway there is various ruins, and portals, functional or otherwise going to various forgotten towns and communities in the main world. Ive found and locked off some of the older ones, but this server has gigabytes of world to explore i cant find it all particularly with the mapping tool offline.
I was attempting to make a map for the website (ultima style) that you can print out of the main continents and city locations for the role player people, but the server has just too many to locate and individually mark on a cloth style map. Took me 2 hours just to plot about 5 locations, and there over 100, at least half of which are worth visiting. I will just have to be forced to get a mapping tool that plots signs on a google map working and use that instead, trouble is it was in the area of a 5 to 10gb map 2 years ago, we have had over 2000 players come through the server since then !

There are lots of different plugins for that kinda thing nathan. Have a look on bukkit and grab one of them. With most you can also show each special location etc.

With most you can also show each special location etc. Before moving to linux i ran a few tectonius maps, after linux I ran clot and pigmap maps, until anvil broke both. Latest pigmap is anvil compatible but upgrading it in linux is a bit of a fiddle at the moment given the dir layouts. I may copy the world file over and generate a tectonius map with sign captioning enabled. That should give some entertaining results, although it will probably take a week to make a map with the current size world file.
