TDF MC Server delivered this morning. Postie woke me up (was onsite at 2am got back by 6am) SE server has got the OS loaded. Been to busy to do much else. will get it M$ updated and setup RDS, so whom needs to manage it can. SE server specs; MS Server 2012 STD Single Xeon E5506 2.13Ghz Quad Core 32Gb RAM - will increase to 48GB but ran out of 8GB ECC DIMMS and 16GB DIMMS are to pricey. Core OS is running on SSD (240GB, with a 3TB data drive. Daily backups will be sent to my NAS)

Ok, hopefully darkie (who ironically is all white) suvived their trip; and fires up first throw, once a suitible PSU is attached; you might need to tweak the ip tho; dont think i hard coded anything manamenent or minecraft wise so OS ip changes should be ok.. double check the ipchains tho. i think they are ip agnostic. Is also remote possibility of minecraft conf files referring to an ip somewhere.. eg the sql for logblock.. if it matches your ip range leave as is, otherwise, hack as needed.
I have my space engineers online status scripts setup there tho.. which probably only like being on port 80.. aside from that i never used the http anymore. If you map the https port (443?) - skull can probably use the management page from there leaving you port 80 free for any other server you host.. although for my economy project workshop mod it would be helpful to have a http server running on the same OS as a SE server - maybe map it to there. i eventually want to set up a web page front end to allow players to trade their mined/refined materials within the game outside of the game for wow value... actually i just had a thought there.. i might add to my mod notes.
SE server - 32gb should be heaps, 8 gb is enough for playing online on the same pc as the server, so even 16gb should be heaps. You have enough extra to probably oracle vm virtual box in a few virtual servers to pimp for projects. Can you toss on a httpd of some sort too in the same instance as the SE OS? Wont need it right away; and doesnt need to default to port 80, just needs to support php and or perl and or cgi type stuff for if my project makes it that far.

as per facebook. slight issue with getting everything online. Turns out that although I pay for a static IP address I don't actually have one as one cannot be offered to me yet... go figure. Apparently it was something only available to first round customers which I am not. Staff notes say that it should be available "September" but no guarantees I'll give it this month as I've already paid for it, to see what happens. If no joy, time to find out who else offers month-to-month business plans with static IPs. need that 1:1 contention and I so don't want to purchase a dyndns account to route back to CNAME DNS entries. ugh. so in summary FUCK YOU @optusnbn haha.

I don't get your trouble, all isps ive used had statics, and never had an issue with me using them.. exetel, aanet, eftel, etc
It's actually easier to set a static, you just rotate the remaining dynamic pool around it.. only time my ip changed was when a major ISP upgrade occured and their backbone provider changed; that happened once in 15 years.
What is with optus anyway, they were pioneers in optus@home program, yet they always bar you using it in TOS for anything useful; often to the extent of making it pointless to get it from them to begin with.

TDF is still running, as it was. I've made no progression with anything. Been to busy keeping work flowing and finding a new house to live in / being a new Dad again.
