Seems the server bit the dust at some stage lastnight. Leadup to the crash was extreme lag causing session end errors. Guess this is to be expected whilst running dev releases I have reloaded the basics worlds in MV (world, brotherhood, nether, end, grimnir)

Hmm should have already been loaded last night when i did some updates.
lag appears to be related to decorative signs, a wither that was spawned, and a hacked client i noticed in the logs tried to connect last niught, any one of them may have been cause.
Still trying to figure it out.

Someone could of also DeDOS'd your server Nathan. Its not hard to do. The hacked client maybe a griefer. Take note though, alot of Griefers use hacked clients. Which are not really hacked. They use eclipse to compile a new Client with modifications E.g The person could have made a Chunk Remover.

You probably should learn what a D, DOS actually is Tangent - I am pretty sure there was no bot nets hitting us, packet floods or xmas tree scans going on last night, everything points to a java glitch. The connection remained responsive, but the java processes didn't. As to all the worlds being unloaded, that is really odd. If the server had gone down again, it wouldnt have been even running, at the moment i have auto start disabled. Unless there is some wacky time out that unloads idle worlds after a time.. which should auto reload if anyone goes to a world in that case. Updates suck

At the risk of someone turning to the dark side, anyone wanna try to get copies of all these so called hack clients, and see what they actually do?
Just keep in mind, you would not want to use your main minecraft account, as half of them probably send your login and password and IP to the maker.. so probably be safer to run it offline mode on a local vanilla junk server.
Near as I can tell Nodus just has some pretty launcher with things like optifine integrated for the typical wanna be hacker griefer who cant even work out how to mod their minecraft.jar in winzip, and need shortcut buttons cause they are too lame to even know the multiplayer commands, presumably its just another xray client (JaXc for short j/k) like the AVO one.
These are usually pretty obvious - if a player connects who cant even spell, and somehow uses 20 different server commands in a minute all perfectly spelt and formatted, chances are its a hacked client testing for our unlocked commands.
When I said hacked client earlier, i mean actually hacked, too BTW, looked like a very custom compile, and it connected and tried to do a lot of very unusual things - The server just threw him off, but it appeared to be trying to do some low level (vanilla protocol level) stuff by the odd (and never before seen) errors it threw.

I can test it nathan and give you a report on how these hacked clients work and how the mods actually work and what they do to your server. Possible using the internal server would be the go for these clients just in case they do some big damage.
