Guys, Seems our ranking staff are sometimes a bit busy - Can you post ranking requests here, include relevant screen shots, and your in game player nickname (the real one not any ~nicks) if possible. (eg show your armour if you're aiming to rank soldier, show your house if you are ranking merchant etc.) You may also need to include coords to get to your house (which should be safe if you region claimed it as the ranking requirement) or if you are worried people might find your house use /sethome rank and I can teleport to your home titled "rank" (staff can use /home player:homename eg /home bob:rank ) Check ranking requirements here before posting requests: cybernexus.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&thread=71Thanks Note: Posts from players who have posted here and subsequently been given requested promotion are removed as they get promoted. Don't take it personally, just trying to keep things neat.

The 1-3 star ranks are for people who either worked in the shop where the Server is physically located; or they contributed to the greater part of founding, existance or managment of the servers.
For instance, Mr Grimnir has practically the same level access as I do, as he has supplied more than half of the hardware the server now actually runs on. The only thing he doesnt have is an SSL shell on the main server, but he has remote bukkit console access; and he has total access both remote and physical to the alphawar server.
Hedt is store staff, and it was he whom we made the server for to begin with. Once again, never found griefing. Ever.
Samhandwich and warpig97 were on the server since almost the first month it existed, and have built the "first 10" major structures on the server in that time, and have never been found griefing. Ever. Any issues he had he discussed with staff instead. Patiently.
Any destruction they may have been found linked to, was either completely within the building and roleplaying guidelines of the server (ie their own buildings or property; or in a designated combat event/region) or was performed to repair damage caused by others.
Tangentspy works in the shop, and has made major donations to the server of time and money. Except for "accidents" while learning he has not griefed.. Ever.
Drewbz and Char were until they started their own server regular staff as well; due to having physical access to the server.
lexybane, my own wife started out as a normal player while she learnt the game, and has worked in the Shop as well. If anything I was actually harder on her, and she passed with flying colors. She was acting like a mature staff member even before she had the powers of one. (yes all those requested items she gave players early on, she actually dug up, enchanted or crafted herself as a player)
Quantum array, has never griefed anything; exept his own buildings, which he would clean up anyway.
pig_assasin was another early player, who other than PvP (which is permitted in a role play or consentual context) has never Griefed or done anything significantly outside the spirit of the gameplay.
The rest of the ^ staff earnt the respect of enough staff and players.. and were more productive than destructive, and were voted in as a result. By other players.
In some cases particular players for loyalty and good conduct have been assigned staff like powers on specific worlds in order to assist in developing them.
The other main reluctance of assigning staff (other than the grief culture of scamming staff ranks to destroy / takedown other servers for some sick amusement) is that once a player achieves a staff position, they can no longer play as a player; they get constantly harassed by players for favours or "ops" and generally end up leaving the server perminently. This is why high staff are limited to physical access to server, as it offers a support framework for the stresses. It is also why voted staff ranks are voted, a player who is generally popular, will have their own support network to help offset the stress of "nags" and duties.
I doubt many of you understand this, it seems that there is some expectation that anyone who plays long enough just thinks they magically get a staff rank. Not True.
Although bonuses like higher player ranks etc can occur. For instance donator like abilities. Even Chadinha, whom was not popular due to certain associations; was granted a donator level rank, because .. well a 5000x5000 sized region, promotional movies, and helping to test and debug ranks and plugins is rather hard to overlook.
