Soz I've been away for a while. Was finishing off the last bit of University work.
I'm now done with University, and I have an honours degree at the age of 18 (which is when most people start) so I'm fairly pleased. The overall grade wasn't the best, I really screwed up my final year (failed a module, did my Final Year Project in 3 days etc etc) but I got an honours never-the-less, and the folks are pleased so at least that chapter of my life is now over.
But as one chapter closes, another begins, and so does the rest of my life. Gonna have to get job, possible move countries AGAIN though that would not be ideal.
I do have a great deal more free time right now though, so if I see a decent amount of activity I'm going to become a hermit again and sit on the server doing my thing.

ahaha Hermit..
Well i am still pondering options re: bandwidth. So far the best option has been upgrade our home internet, but that only offers 3-5meg up still pretty pita
Despite all the PR fluff about fibers going in, ive yet to see a single one laid since Hitler took over the liberal party..
Even tho i am technically near 2 areas getting it.. but if they do its likely fttn anyway, which is something like 256k up anyway. Idiot politicians.

Hahah, a hermit is pretty much what I was back in the day. Go to uni during the day, chill with friends in the afternoon, come home go on this server until it was morning again xD
Yeah a few more slots would be nice. I'm planning to do some events now that I am more active again to get more players on again.
Graduating tomorrow (omgwtfbbq im scared) and I'll be on a bit more while looking for jobs and such.

We have been looking at a distributed setup, running a server here and on tangents, that is like 2mb up, and can load balance/round robin.. trouble is we would have to reduce the slots on each given server to allow bandwidth for keeping them in sync, so like 6-7 slots each end, gives us 12-14ish, Ideally 4 slots per server then run like 8 servers - giving us 32 slots. Trouble is even doing that becomes an issue due to all the syncing traffic. Then add to that updates.. and the whole mess becomes Unmanageable.. (and i dont know 8 people with 1 meg up anyway) Realistically the only chance we have is someone who got FTTP prior to the government regime change - and share the cost of a tier 4 or 5. Or move to datacenter - which lacking the ability to monetize wont work flat out. (not to mention our multi-gb/multi-world server map is too big to upload with Australian internet) Don't suppose you know anyone in the UK parish or Borwick? Ideally a minecraft fan lol. motherboard.vice.com/read/this-rural-community-is-building-its-own-gigabit-fibre-networkHell even India and Pakistan have faster internet than Oz

Haha yeah I heard about the farmers building their own internet thing.
And yeah I hear ya about the other stuff. My internet is pretty good but I'm about to move. Once I have a job and settle down I'd have really reliable internet.
