I have tried to post this a number of times.. apparently proboards is having trouble with.. er.. bears in their server room.
Anyway -The spawn area is what is on the agenda at the moment.
Firstly as a continuation of the urban renewal project, which saw things such as roads being linked up, and the railways being extended, and electric street lights.. I have been revising the layout of the old spawn citadel. This will hopefully continue until we have a viable rail and road network.
Secondly - expansion of the steam punk theme.. the server world has been around 3+ years, which is something like 300 years in minecraft time. You would think a few things would have changed in that time.
Many relics of the ancients have been rediscovered, dark things are moving around in space. Several Technomancers have returned, but their homeworld (cybertron) has gone missing. Much of the old technology is being used again - and time has advanced forward, so most take it for granted - but other tech has been lost or stopped working, those using it never really learning how they worked, and it fell into disrepair. Many traditions remain entrenched, such as the usage of obsolete hand to hand weapons, but equally, weapons of mass destruction now exist..
The Paladin leadership has gone missing. Skullcorp has been founded, and they are implicated. The Assassins Brotherhood of Shadows has also gone missing, presumably in chase of the Paladins. But the end result is a power vacuum in both the Brotherhood and the Paladins.
The king has completed his major project of building a castle for his family.. but has apparently gone on an extended vacation.
Many generations of Bobs have Lived and Died, only one descendent remains, running the family business.
The gods were hunted down, and killed, they no longer interfere with the lives of mortals.. but perhaps maybe their children escaped..
Those that were left behind have taken power even when they didn't want it.. the Brotherhood is now led by a woman. The world claimed by them has undergone severe changes, torn and changed to the point most of it is unrecognizable..
The Citadel is now a Garrison, the King using it mainly for dealing with smaller day to day matters. He has moved out of the citadel and lives in the Castle - the leader of the Guard now lives there. The area will most likely be expanded into a small city, as such many former areas of crown land, are now for sale or rent.
Skullcorp siezed the ice world.. and lay claim to the newworld district.
Grimsgate continues to be a place people go to visit, as is the funpark - but in either case, some people never return.. rumors circulate of people being abducted and forced to participate in macabre games of life and death.. the rumors are denied, but no explanation for the missing people is given... is there perhaps a darker faction or a forgotten evil at work?
Acadar continues to pop up with more surprises... so surprising, they will even be a surprise to me..
Port Blacksand dominating Allansia; the massive city of scoundrels is slowly growing to its planned magnificence - but still has a long way to go.
Current New features:Less complicated stairways and halls.
"Escape" routes when people leave gates or drawbridges closed (basically a vine you can climb up if the way is closed off, or a secret tunnel)
Internal furnishing carpet etc.
A more prominent public mine
General refreshing of the overall layout and look of the citadel. The mad wizard is gone, why should the king leave all his crazyness?
Lots of secret doors - utilizing my current favorite "relay" configuration of secret doors. Look for buttons or levers hidden in dark corners or behind vines. Sometimes some deliberate "mistakes" have been left to hint at a secret nearby (eg an out of place step in an otherwise featureless hall, or a tower with no obvious way in etc)
Long term Planned features -A new special "noob" spawn point - possibly using one or a combination of the "new arrival" plots. (you wake from cold sleep on a crashing space ship and have to work out how to escape and find your way to civilization (ie the current spawn)) This may be randomised slightly so some players have a different "story" based on things like gender or what door they choose. Probably will need a dark room and a Zelda like "wake up" narration, where you pick a door, and answer questions.. The result of your choices leads you to your "new arrival" mission and may effect which world you end up starting on. this however will take a long time to implement i i should probably add it to the "difficult" wish list below.
Old players may be given a way to get there too. So they can play it out.
A more prominent spacious merchant spawn, shops, mall etc. Most likely in the Trade Tower District.
Stricter Economy - The /sell command will not return, players now need to rely on trade signs, players, or merchant npcs.
The spawn command may return - but only be available to default or citizen rank and up. (this is to prevent griefers joining and not completing the new arrival mission, and immediately start griefing)
New sub-default ranks for new players (relates to the idea of a new noob point, and possibly /spawn points on different worlds)
Desired features but difficult to implement Automatic real world economy - contribute money, and it automatically converts to items or in game money
Port blacksand with working serving wenches; and rentable rooms in the taverns.
Denizen quests - what happened to viceroy of the paladins?, the guildmaster for new assassins? Why has the king left his castle for an extended vacation...
Technomancers may get jet packs
Npcs that can buy/sell/rent rooms land areas etc.
NPCs that can be hired to construct buildings - will need a "display home village" and so forth to allow you to choose one. You also need to supply the materials for him to construct it...
NPCs as part of the noob quest and special "progress" ranks.
Sounds and other special effects hopefully for the noob mission.
Bring Cybertron back!
Faster internet connection to allow more players on.
Faster server - our TPS is now 19.5 not 20
Permit players to view the satellite maps (need faster internet tho) our server world really is uncomprehendingly large.
