Hi, Last night for no explainable reason, at 22:30 phase 8 of my power system tripped off. (This runs the servers etc) according to the security cameras nobody caused it to happen. They are all back up again now - just a mystery as to why.
World map seems ok, but our sql database now shows duplicate primary key.. great...
Still waiting on an official bukkit release, which is complicated by some internet dung flinging going on between Bukkit and Spigot.
Now as I understand it, Bukkit is the upstream project, and "craftbukkit" and "spigot" are both downstream projects of "bukkit". Both have official programmers in common, and plugin coders working on both. That is why both craftbukkit and spigot can run the same plugins.
However Spigot apparently did the unforgivable "crime" of coding in a temp dev version with a version reply override, and enabled the server icon ability - then making this available as a "no-support" version, which 90% of the craftbukkit official online servers now run. Why?
Well bukkit have not even tried to run a compile of 1.6.4 in 2 months - let alone a stop-gap version fix- so now all the "official" bukkit staff classify spigot as a "protocol hack" and are pretty much stonewalling now other than some PR damage control over their reluctance to do any more compiles.
They are working on it, but their delay has now cost them 90% of their users (many of which program for bukkit). Even tho they are both downstreams of the same group.. the "owners" of bukkit are pissed off -- and the delays and shit flinging at spigot if anything is showing them to be immature idiots, and their coders are likely leaving in droves and moving to spigot now - in turn causing even more delays on an official 1.7 release.
Its all a politicial s**t hole really. Bukkit have been turning on their own loyal long term users during this dung fight- So far it seems entirely one sided as well. Spigot have not been returning the flung monkey s**t - that i see - but given the entire bukkit forum moderator team are basically condoning this behavior.. this is not a good sign. I am guessing former bukkit users are however adding fuel to the fire by demanding explanations why spigot (a relatively small team) was able to get a clean 1.7 server out months before bukkit even tried even a single compile. They respond with stonewalls/bans/deletes and topic locks.
If Bukkit dont grow the F**k up fast, they will soon not exist at all since they are systematically driving their own user base away to spigot because of their behaviour.
That is all. Yes it sucks.
