General:These notes only apply to the Dark Fortress World... No nagging!Eg no "give me xx item" or "sign that gives away free xx item" or "give me xx rank or ops or such" or "nominate me for mod". This is the quickest way to be DEMOTED. No Asking staff for blocks you can mine/craft in less than 1 minute, or buy in shops. No Harrassment!Eg, No, insults, bad language, or PVPing for no reason. No killing players over and over No griefing, ever. No excuses. Definition of Good/Evil/NeutralGood players are defenders, builders, farmers, Mayors etc. Eg. They will defend and fortify the Breech. Serve the public etc. Evil players are attackers, fortress or lair makers, hunters, trap makers, demonic. Eg. They will summon monsters, break the breech, create evil buildings and traps. kill people etc. Neutral players are helpers in general. They don't take sides in war or construction. They will help players with "good" or "evil" gameplay styles. Rank / requirement:Note: Upgrades refer to ranks possibly obtainable from NPC quests this capability is a work in progress, and might not be available.Restrict - (Villiage idiot or Epic fail rank) this rank is the equivalent of being jailed. Ie you can walk and chat and nothing else. Be an idiot and you will get this rank eventually. Keep being an idiot and you get banned. Mostly Obsolete, replaced by /tjail <player> biome (a hunger game style arena) however annoying but not particularly destructive players might get this if they are demoted too many times by staff. Default- (Standard player) - How to get it: this rank is given to all players on connect. / Just connect to the server.
- What can it do: Spawn at the main Citadel, a noob friendly no pvp zone. Has access to all the usual single player survival capabilities; and a few server specific ones such as buying from shops, region claims, locked chests/doors and doing quests. You can also request via TPA to teleport however this ability is under review due to abuse.
- What should I do next: Look at building a house, doing some mining, selling blocks at the spawn shop, locking a chest, and trying to figure out how region claim and region flag works. Ideally getting your basic survival mode equipment sorted by crafting or buying some stuff, then look at building something interesting.
Familiarise yourself with the gameplay. Have fun.
- What upgrades are available: Default -> CITIZEN - Nothing really special but qualifies you for nomination to elected ranks, and hiring NPCs
Merchant - (Trader/baker/blacksmith/woodcutter/miner) - How to get it: Play on the server regularly for a while, Build a house, and REGION CLAIM IT. buy/sell some items at the spawn shop.
- What can it do: it unlocks learning the repair tradeskill spell, it allows you to create trade signs, unlocks a few other commands, like back and tpahere, lets you have multiple /sethomes, allows you to operate drawbridges. You spawn at the merchants guild.
- What should I do next: Do some mining/crafting/buying/selling/repairing, trade goods and services with other players using signs or /pay or barter.
Make at least 1 [trade] buying and selling sign, use the merchant trading area or make a shop. Don't forget to keep it stocked. Learn how to set flags on your claim, eg the pvp deny flag would be appropriate in a shop. Do a quest from the king. Familiarise yourself with the gameplay. Have fun.
- What upgrades are available: Merchant--> Privateer - Possibly access to hiring shop NPCs, using boats etc. ** Dependant on plugin capabilities **
Soldier - (Defender, good or evil) - How to get it: Are a member of someones REGION CLAIM (your house doesn't count), are merchant/privateer rank, have bought quested or crafted a full set of armour and weapons(eg sword/bow/arrows), and have killed at least 20 things. You will need to kill 5 different hostile mobs, and bring 15 of its loot to a staff member. This will show you have soldier skills. * your MC "experience" level number may also be considered.
- What can it do: You spawn in the Citadel Armoury, offering unlimited weapons and armour, and cheap food (also means you can now use any [free] signs you happen upon) you are granted the roar trade skill spell, you are able to learn the haste and disarm trade skill spells (if you can find or be taight them)
- What should I do next: Defend the breech, stock up all the breech guns, perhaps learn some more region flags such as entry deny, or chest-access, hire yourself out as a mercenary, do some king quests, go exploring.
Familiarise yourself with the gameplay. Have fun.
- What upgrades are available: Soldier --> Knight --> Possibly hiring guard NPCs to command. ** Dependant on plugin capabilities **
Assassin OR Paladin - (grey area here - PVP war ranks) Technically is upgrade to knight, but in practice you dont actually need to be a knight. More often bored elementalists chase these ranks as they are more combat oriented. - How to get it: Find the NPC in charge of that profession. Then complete his quest. Some or all NPCs are under control of a player leading the profession.. so you might not be allowed to take the quest.. The quests are very difficult, hunting hundreds or even thousands of mobs.

A land claim should include this building and have at least 1 member (other than yourself) on the claim. Also have built at least one interesting crazy or unique machine. Keep in mind some players have built massive machines. An automatic door doesnt really cut it.
- What can it do: You spawn in the Wizards tower, which offers numerous free mechanical supplies for building machines, enchanting etc. As a wizard you gain the bind, food, prayer, summon, and teach spell. You also gain the ability to be taught or learn the blink, confusion, forcepush, gate, heal, leap, mark, recall, reflect, safefall, sun, volley and walkway spells. Tracking skill, if you have a compass you can use it to /locate a player. Battlemage - certain abilities are upgraded in the nether world, and available spells and skills may vary from world to world.
- What should I do next: Try to find some spells, not all are available or easy to find so don't stress too much about it. Consider ideas for machines to build.
Familiarise yourself with the gameplay. Have fun.
- What upgrades are available: Wizard --> Sorcerer few extra spells may be unlocked. May gain access to hire certain NPCs eg healer ** Dependant on plugin capabilities **

Technically pets and NPC's count, but ideally have two different players as members on your region claims. (not necessarily the same claim)
Epic suggestions might be build an entire dungeon complete with pitfall traps, arrow or fire traps, dead ends the works. Or just some crazy big redstone machine.
