Ok, We have had channel chat for a long time after it was suggested by a player.
Nobody seems to know how to use it. It is quite simple -
/set channel channel you want your chat to go to /join (or /create i think) channel create a private chat channel /leave - leaves whatever channel you currently have /set /invite player adds a player to your chatroom
You can have multiple chatrooms, and choose which one you are talking to with /set, you can see chat in all chatrooms you are in.
Example. When you connect you are in the "general" chat by default.
Lets say you want to chat to bob, fred, and sally, but at the same time you still want to see what messages are in global chat.
do the following - /join secretchat /set secretchat /invite bob /invite fred /invite sally
If you see something interesting in global chat and want to reply - /set General
blah blah blah
/set secretchat
Or lets say you are sick of all the nonsence in main chat. /leave /join quiet /invite sally
